Sherif Ibrahim, MD, PhD

Founder and Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Ibrahim is recognized nationally as an expert in the field of Hematopathology and Molecular Pathology. Dr. Ibrahim previously held several positions at NYU School of Medicine and Hospitals (2001-2017), including Adjunct Professor, Director of Hematopathology/Molecular Pathology and Director of the Hematopathology Fellowship Program. He also served as a Hematopathology Consultant at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from 2008 to 2017.

He performed his Hematopathology Fellowship at the M D Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Ibrahim contributed to the scientific literature in the field of Hematology and Oncology more than 60 peer-reviewed articles and several book chapters and presentations in Hematopathology and Molecular Pathology Dr. Ibrahim is routinely engaged by other pathologists and physicians to render second opinions on the most difficult to diagnose leukemia and lymphoma cases.

During his time as Director of Molecular Pathology, Dr Ibrahim was one of the first adaptors of next generation sequencing technology. He saw clearly that NGS could bring new possibilities to cancer care and so with the desire to give all patients access to comprehensive genetic testing, Dr. Ibrahim launched a subsidiary lab, PsiGenex, which will provide the same high level service to women’s health and beyond.

Khaled Gamal, MD, MB(ASCP)

Manager, Molecular Pathology Department

Dr. Gamal is a renowned subject matter expert in the field of precision medicine and molecular pathology. After receiving his medical degree and completing a residency in clinical pathology, Dr. Gamal decided to devote his long-life career to molecular pathology, focusing on the study, development, and implementation of advanced molecular diagnostic techniques. This stemmed from Dr. Gamal’s strong conviction that the future of medicine will be shaped mainly by molecular biomarker-based precision medicine.

Dr. Gamal has directly overseen the establishment of the Molecular divisions in several molecular diagnostics companies, from the ground up, and has been consulting for many others. He brings visionary leadership to the growing, highly promising field of companion diagnostics as it offers continuing advancements in diagnostic products and services that enable personalized medicine.

Among Dr. Gamal’s many achievements in that respect, is his leadership of the molecular department at Cancer Genetics Inc (CGI), where he spearheaded the development of numerous cutting edge molecular techniques and assays serving the pharmaceutical sector, while simultaneously overseeing the molecular oncology lab, which constitutes the diagnostic division of CGI. Following the acquisition of CGI by Interpace biosciences, Inc., Dr. Gamal led the foundation of a state-of-the-art molecular pathology laboratory at RTP, North Carolina.
